Haha, that's funny, same thing happened to me! My son takes so long to eat one meal -1hour- that I gave up feeding him on my own. I would react like you, either get exasperated and chuck the food away and starve him, or scream at him and scold till he cries and throws a fit. Which would only make things worse since in the end, no one wins and no one eats the food! The maid has more patience, she will dance around and coax him, play with him etc. I wonder which is the right way though, to give in to him, or train him the hard way that if he doesn't eat fast, NO FOOD. Hmm, any thoughts??

O my dear genesis
It's very clear. Patience is all we need. I dont deny saying is easier and Im always learning to be especially towards my two 18mos princesses. I am quite jealous to see my children more bond to the maid. It's a task for a maid to take care of the children and they can have patience so being a role as a mother I should be more oblige.
Genesis Im not sure how old is your son but I still think going by the hard way is abit harsh for toddler below 2yrs. Unless they are ready to and can understand logic like if they dont eat now they will go hungry later and no food will be served till next meal. If not they will end up cranky all day bcos hungry and only learn that mummy dont love them bcos mummy dont give food. Worst of all the tantrum most probably gotta us on the nerve and gave them a big spank on the buttock! Ha Ha Ha

I always want to use that hard way of depriving the kid from her food if she tries to eat slowly, run around or play with the food. Either she still doesn't understand the concept of it or because I couldn't bear to see my not chubby girl getting thinner, it never works. So, I rather let the more patient maid do the job. When I feed her and she is up to her monkey business, I will employ the help of TV or toys. Not a good practice, but at least it prevent me from flaring up...hehe.
