She finally grasps the idea that if she counts the cubes to the number 6, and when I asked “How many?” the answer would be “6″. Teaching her to count from 1-20 is so much easier then getting her to understand the concept of quantity.
It has been many many months of counting cubes, pictures, sweets and whatever comes along the way, but whenever I asked her “How many?”, she would said “3″. Because that was the answer to the question when I first introduced quantity to her. Then she started randomly giving me other numbers, since “3″ was always the wrong answer.
Some wonderful brain synapses must have been formed this morning since she miraculously counted the cubes and was able to tell me the corresponding numbers. Baby steps, but I am more confident she wouldn’t be totally clueless about quantity now.

Reason for my long absence: see picture on left. I was struck with morning sickness again. Perhaps I have low tolerance threshold, I declared myself an invalid, packed some clothing and moved to stay at my father’s place, and was bedridden for more then two months. What about relocating to KL? I shelved that indefinitely! Headache, nausea, vomiting, dizzy spells and a stomach full of churning acid, I told myself I am absolutely not going to subject myself to this kind of torture for the 3rd time.
And strange things happened to Yauyau during these few months too. We realised that she grew much more sensible and is more capable of interacting with us. Initially, I was worried that she would most probably be neglected because poor mommy simply wasn’t able to play with her. However, it turned out that I have been spending more time with her, and that probably helped to open her up a bit.
